Studied the manufacture, quality control, research and development and application techniques for modified asphalt roofing membranes in Europe in mid-1990.

Involved in controlled laboratory and field studies for expert witness in civil action suits involving large corporations.

Extensive general construction and asphalt paving background with various contractors prior to specialization in roofing and waterproofing. Joined the Owens Corning Fiberglas Corporation in 1970 as a built-up roofing specialist in the Chicago/Milwaukee area. In 1973, assumed responsibility for national product support for the Owens Corning built-up roofing program to include specification and product evaluation, troubleshooting and problem job reconciliation. In 1975, assumed responsibility for marketing of Fiberglas Roofing/Waterproofing materials to include R&D coordination, product and specification development, manufacturing coordination, technical support for field sales representatives, development of technical manuals, and training for in-house personnel and contractor affiliates. Functioned as liaison and counsel to Owens Corning International affiliates.

Purchased Caroling Roofing Service, Inc. (CRS, Inc.) in 1978. Serve presently as President of CRS, Inc. CRS, Inc. Performs construction contracting service of roofing assemblies throughout the southeast United States; consultation and construction inspection on roofing and waterproofing of structures, as well as asphalt paving systems, internationally.

Authored the Fiberglas Built-Up Roofing Reference Manual, the second and third editions of the Energy Manual published by the National Roofing Contractors Association, the Low-slope Roofing and Insulation Chapters of CONSTRUCTION Principles for the U. S. League of Savings Associations, Application Techniques for Glass Fiber Roofing Felts published by the National Roofing Contractors Association. Past Officer and Director of NRCA; presently serve on the Technical Operations Committee of NRCA; developed electronic reproduction of NRCA Roof Construction Details.

Functioned as consultant and performed continuous roof management for Allied Stores Corporation, Best Products Company, Inc., Dillard Department Stores, Circuit City Stores, Winmar Corporation, Thalheimer’s Department Stores, Jim Wilson & Associates, Argonaut Realty (General Motors), duPont de Nemours & Company, Inc., Merrill Lynch, Hubbard, Inc., The Clorox Company, Dupont-Merck, Lexington Properties, Aronov Properties, and others.

Published in the Sixth, Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Conferences on Roofing Technology, and in the Second and Third International Symposiums on roofing Technology, RSI Magazine, The Roofing Spec (now Professional Roofing), The Florida Forum, Carolinas Contacts, Plant Engineering, Architectural Record and serve as Technical Editor for Contractors Guide Magazine.

Regular Instructor of General Roofing Subjects on the faculty of the Roofing Industry Educational Institute; Speaker for National Roofing Contractors Association, Midwest Roofing Contractors Association; Speaker for University of Wisconsin and Clemson University Continued Engineering Education conferences on roofing technology and energy conservation; Speaker for Construction Management and Professional Development seminars for public and private operations.

Served on Contractor Advisory councils for Dow Chemical Company, Koppers Industries, Owens Corning Fiberglas Corporation, GAF and Firestone Building Products Co., and assisted in the development of TamCadd specifications and details for Tamko Asphalt Products Co.
